Printmaking Workshop with FAIR School Downtown

My old stomping ground, the Regis Center for Art, is embarking on a series of workshops to enhance the visibility of academic art classrooms to High School students.  Having done this a few times, I was a good fit.  For my third experience working with FAIR School downtown I called upon my frequent partner in studio crime, Paula Marty.  We worked together on developing a more expansive project which would raise the stakes from the last day long workshop we did together.  Also, in the interest of keeping things fresh and challenging for us - we decided to integrate multiple print methods.  We started with bitmapped textural screen positives, which the students printed for the first part of the workshop.  In the afternoon, we issued lino blocks and they carved totems to print on top of the screen images.  Here's some samples of how that shook out.  These kids are really bright and involved, and they produced some really interesting experimental prints.  In just a few hours they gained exposure to digital, photo, screen and relief, and still managed to finish early.
